The CSX Transportation Public Safety and Environment department provides training and emergency planning materials for emergency response agencies free of charge. On this website, you can request the following items:

• Community Awareness Emergency Planning Guide
  The CSX Transportation Community Awareness Emergency Planning Guide was developed to assist emergency managers and response agency leaders with their efforts to plan for and respond to incidents involving railroad property or equipment, and is intended to augment existing plans and operating procedures. The guide is not intended to be used for individual training of responders, rather as a reference for agency decision-makers.
• Emergency Response to Railroad Incidents Self Study Guide
  The Emergency Response to Railroad Incidents Self Study Guide was developed to provide emergency responders with a training and reference document for preparing for incidents involving railroad property or equipment. The guide contains information about safety around the railroad, incident preplanning and initial response procedures as well as railroad equipment and personnel. That guide contains a quiz the trainees can complete and mail to CSX Transportation's hazardous material systems group for grading and certificate issuance. The book is intended to be a companion to the self study video. When ordering, request one copy per anticipated training attendee.

  The Locomotive Emergency Response Operations Video was developed to provide emergency responders with a training and reference document for preparing for incidents involving railroad property or equipment. The video contains information about safety around the railroad, incident preplanning and initial response procedures as well as how to safely and efficiently rescue rail crews during emergency situations and special instructions when dealing with an accident on bridges or in tunnels.

CSX Transportation provides training materials to response agencies located in the states in which we operate. Due to the high demand for these training products, CSXT cannot provide materials for agencies in states other than those served by CSXT. If you are associated with a response agency west of the Mississippi River, Wisconsin, or any other area not served by CSXT, you should contact the railroad company operating in your jurisdiction for training.
